This morning, Sunday, 16 March 2025, a memorial ceremony was held at one of Komala’s camps to mark 27 Reşemê, Komala Martyrs’ Day.
The event was attended by a number of Komala’s leadership, cadres, Peshmerga, and members, who came together to honour the memory of the fallen comrades of the Shuwan Unit and all of Komala’s martyrs, while raising the significance of this day.
The ceremony began with the anthem “Ey Shehîdan” (Oh Martyrs), followed by several hours of silence in tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those comrades.
The silence was then broken by a poetic recitation by Zhila Rashidi, the ceremony’s presenter.
Afterwards, Comrade Reza Kaabi, Komala’s General Secretary, delivered a speech on the occasion to the audience.
This was followed by the reading of an official statement from Komala’s Central Committee, delivered by Comrade Arman Kurd, a member of the committee.
The ceremony continued with the reading of a short narrative about the bravery and self-sacrifice of the Shuwan Unit comrades and the heartbreaking events surrounding their martyrdom.
In closing, once again, the memory of those brave fighters who gave their lives in the name of Komala’s ideals was honoured, and the 27th of Reşemê was commemorated as a sacred day in their name.
